Train Information

Although Copmanthorpe does not currently have a station the East Coast Main Line runs through the village and it is a hope of many that a station will soon be built in the village. This could give direct train services to important towns and cities such as York, Leeds, Scarborough and Hull. With a little vision cities like Manchester, Newcastle and even London and Edinburgh could be added to that list.

For now we have to make do with the station in York which is well served by several train companies. For timetable information Visit National Rail website.

Services to London, Edinburgh and stations in between (and even beyond) are now provided by East Coast. Check out their online train information system to see if your train is on schedule or not.

Grand Central have started a York—London service in competition with National Express. They only run three trains a day, but you don't need to pre-book your ticket so their cheaper fares offer a greater deal of flexibility compared to National Expresses advanced tickets. Grand Central trains also run north to Thirsk, Northallerton and stations to Sunderland and their fares are very cheap (York—Sunderland is £16 Anytime Return).

Transpennie Express run services to east to Scarborough and Middlesbrough and west to Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.

Cross Country run services to most of the provincial cities in the country providing York with a direct service to Sheffield, Birmingham and Bristol as well as many others.

Northern Rail provide local train services across the whole of the north of England. From York they run the key services to Harrogate and Hull.
