Old School Medical Practice
Appointments
All surgeries are by appointments made either by calling at the surgery or by telephoning the reception.
Patients may choose to see any doctor, not just with the doctor with whom they are registered.
If you require an urgent appointment, please inform the receptionist. Urgent cases will be seen with the minimum of delay and by whichever doctor is available.
If for any reason you cannot keep your appointment, please notify the surgery as soon as possible.
Home Visits
If you consider a home visit necessary, please contact the surgery BEFORE 10.00am. The receptionist may enquire about the nature of the problem to assist the doctor in arranging his round, giving priority to the most important cases.
Repeat Prescriptions
Requests for repeat prescriptions can be made using the tear-off slip of your prescription, by marking the items you require, and posting or handing it in at the reception desk.
We do NOT take requests for prescriptions over the telephone as mistakes are too easily made. Please allow at least one full working day between request and collection.
Dispensing
Copmanthorpe surgery is partially dispensing (for the outlying areas only) and your prescription can be obtained from reception. All the other patients must take their prescription to the chemist.

Out of hours emergency cover is arranged through North Yorkshire Emergency Doctors. Please respect the fact that it is an emergency service. If you need advice in an emergency please telephone the surgery (706455) and have a pen and paper ready.
The doctor at the emergency centre will assess whether you need to see a doctor. Expect in cases where you are unable to travel for a genuine medical reason, you will be expected to travel to the Primary Care Centre to be seen.
