Cycling
The Vale of York's topology and climate help to make cycling a popular option. Many people in Copmanthorpe use the bike for transport and leisure.
The Village itself does not have any dedicated cycle routes, but it is connected to the national cycle network by the cycle path on the A64. This can be accessed at the extreme ends of both Tadcaster Road (Copmanthorpe) and Manor Heath.
For ideas on recreational cycling out from Copmanthorpe check out the Bike Rides page.
If you are interested in cycling but your bike has seen better days, then speak to the people at Cycle Heaven, 2 Bishopthorpe Road. They are experts in repairs and services and have a wide range of bikes on sale. They can sell you a siutable bike, whatever your needs.
New Sculpture
A new sculpture has been installed on the York to Selby cycle way. It is mounted on top of the Ouse bridge (the bridge between Bishopthorpe and Naburn).
Made of stainless steel bars and about 4 metres in height the sculpture of a man, his bike and a dog is a very impressive sight. Its size and scale makes you want to view it from several different angles and distances.
Parking a car near the cycle way is not practical. So jump on
your bike and head out along Temple Lane and through Acaster Malbis
to see this new sculpture for yourself.
If you need more detailed instructions on how to get there then
take a look at the York –
Selby bike ride page.
