Bus Information

There are two major bus services in Copmanthorpe.  Both of these provide fast and frequent, services throughout the day.

Yorkshire Coastliner run a long distance service from Leeds to the East Yorkshire coast.  This provides Copmanthorpe with a direct service to Leeds, Tadcaster and York. With a quick change in YOrk you can venture on to Malton and the resorts of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington.  The service can be caught from stops on Tadcaster Road (Copmanthopre), Top Lane, Hallcroft Lane and Manor Heath. Coastliner now run 2 buses an hour to both York and Leeds throughout the day (hourly on Sundays) and provide Copmanthorpe with a very good evening service when their buses divert into the centre of the village.

First York operate the Number 13/13A route from the centre of the Village to the centre of York which runs half hourly during the day, hourly on Sundays. The journey time from Main Street to York railway station is around 18 minutes with Stonebow being reached 7 minutes later. In August 2010 First cut the early morning and evening buses. The earliest 13 from Copmanthorpe is now 07:30 and the last one from York is 18:00 (Mon-Fri).

As of August 2010, a day return fare from Copmanthorpe to York is £3.00 with Coastliner and £3.30 with First. A day return to Leeds is £5.00.

Rural Bus

After much campaigning by a few residents of the Temple Lane area, the Number 21 operated by Harrogate Coach Travel started serving Copmanthorpe in November 2009. However, it appears that these residents didn't actually need to use the service and as of August 31st 2010 the 21 will not run down Temple Lane. This service relies on a large subsidy, and one assumes that a small chunk of our council tax has been spent on a service that people wanted but had no intention of using!
